Okay so this is my favourite book and I am really excited to share its review.
What the book is about?
This book tells the life story of a girl, Jane Eyre, in first person. The story can be divided into four parts. It starts with her childhood of being emotionally and physically abused by her aunt and cousins, then her gaining education and becoming a better person at Lowood institution after which she starts her job at Thornfield as a governess, that’s the place where her life changes completely. After that she spends some time with Rivers and gets to know so much about herself. And finally the novel ends with a happy ending.
My opinion:- From the summary, this novel might sound all boring and common but it’s actually the opposite. Jane Eyre is a character that, I think, every girl can relate to in one way or the other, even though it was published way back in 1847. The story is so beautifully written that it catches your interest right from the beginning. Honestly, I am not a fan of classic novels and yet this is my favourite book. I think that says a lot.
One thing that I really liked about the book from the very start is that Jane is not a clichéd beautiful, rich girl. She is not pretty, she is an orphan and she’s definitely not rich. The character that Jane has makes you her fan. She is bold, independent, honest and self-respecting. She has her principles that she stands by no matter how hard the situation is. She doesn’t want to be anyone’s shadow or live like someone’s possession; she wants to have her own standing and be an equal. In a lot of ways you can see a modern woman in Jane.
The story will make you smile, laugh and cry. It has an element of suspense in it too. It has unexpected twists and turns. This book is a full package. And as I already mentioned that this is a classic, the language is easy to understand, which is usually not the case with classics because they are written so long ago and it becomes a little hard to get the grasp of language.
Just read this book okay! It is the best. You have to read this book, especially if you are a girl. The way the life of Jane Eyre is presented to you is so heart-touching. When you are reading the book it feels like you are actually talking to a person and that Jane is your friend. It’s a must read.
